Animal Care Assistant

Maynards Sanctuary & Pawton’s Doggy Daycare

We are looking for a hardworking, reliable and caring Animal Care Assistant to join our team and work across our animal sanctuary and doggy daycare.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who genuinely loves animals and enjoys practical outdoor work. Your day could involve caring for our sanctuary animals in the morning, helping with the dogs at our daycare, and driving our air-conditioned dog van to collect and return daycare dogs.

The role will include:

Sanctuary and farm animal care

  • Feeding and caring for our rescued farm and sanctuary animals

  • Looking after sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, pigs, poultry and other animals

  • Cleaning and maintaining animal areas, shelters and enclosures

  • Checking animals and reporting any concerns

  • Helping with fencing, maintenance and general farm duties

  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Supporting the general running and upkeep of the sanctuary

Doggy daycare

  • Caring for and supervising groups of dogs

  • Ensuring the dogs are safe, happy and well cared for

  • Providing exercise, enrichment and attention

  • Cleaning and maintaining daycare areas

  • Helping with the general running of the daycare

Dog van driving

  • Driving the daycare van to collect and drop off dogs

  • Safely loading and unloading dogs

  • Ensuring dogs are transported safely and comfortably

  • Providing excellent customer service to clients

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced with animals, ideally both farm animals and dogs

  • Confident handling a variety of animals

  • Hardworking, practical and not afraid of getting dirty

  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently

  • Calm, responsible and safety-conscious

  • Physically fit and happy working outdoors

  • A confident driver with a clean driving licence

  • Friendly and professional when dealing with customers

  • Flexible and willing to work across both the sanctuary and doggy daycare

A full UK driving licence is essential. Applicants must be aged 25 or over due to our vehicle insurance requirements.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a wide range of animals in a unique sanctuary and doggy daycare environment, where the work you do directly contributes to the care and welfare of rescued animals.

To apply, please send your CV to maynardssanctuary@gmail.com with a short message telling us about your experience with animals and why you would be suitable for the role.

This is a self employed part-time position. The hourly rate will be dependent on experience and will be discussed at interview.
