Animal Care Assistant
Maynards Sanctuary & Pawton’s Doggy Daycare
We are looking for a hardworking, reliable and caring Animal Care Assistant to join our team and work across our animal sanctuary and doggy daycare.
This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who genuinely loves animals and enjoys practical outdoor work. Your day could involve caring for our sanctuary animals in the morning, helping with the dogs at our daycare, and driving our air-conditioned dog van to collect and return daycare dogs.
The role will include:
Sanctuary and farm animal care
Feeding and caring for our rescued farm and sanctuary animals
Looking after sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, pigs, poultry and other animals
Cleaning and maintaining animal areas, shelters and enclosures
Checking animals and reporting any concerns
Helping with fencing, maintenance and general farm duties
Working outdoors in all weather conditions
Supporting the general running and upkeep of the sanctuary
Doggy daycare
Caring for and supervising groups of dogs
Ensuring the dogs are safe, happy and well cared for
Providing exercise, enrichment and attention
Cleaning and maintaining daycare areas
Helping with the general running of the daycare
Dog van driving
Driving the daycare van to collect and drop off dogs
Safely loading and unloading dogs
Ensuring dogs are transported safely and comfortably
Providing excellent customer service to clients
We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced with animals, ideally both farm animals and dogs
Confident handling a variety of animals
Hardworking, practical and not afraid of getting dirty
Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
Calm, responsible and safety-conscious
Physically fit and happy working outdoors
A confident driver with a clean driving licence
Friendly and professional when dealing with customers
Flexible and willing to work across both the sanctuary and doggy daycare
A full UK driving licence is essential. Applicants must be aged 25 or over due to our vehicle insurance requirements.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a wide range of animals in a unique sanctuary and doggy daycare environment, where the work you do directly contributes to the care and welfare of rescued animals.
